Use Decision History when you want to review individual moderation decisions. Decision History includes all data from policy runs in the app, including evals, test runs, and live production runs.
Use Usage when you want to look for broader patterns occurring in production, like volume spikes, changes in assessment mix, or shifts in which labels appear most often. Usage only shows data that has gone to your API.
Decision History is the best place to spot-check how a policy handled a specific piece of content. It is useful when you want to:
review recent decisions after publishing or updating a policy
investigate a result that looks wrong or surprising
compare how often different assessments or labels are appearing
pull examples for a dataset or follow-up review
correct decisions and save to a new dataset
